  ನಾನು ಪಂಜರದ ಪಕ್ಷಿ ಇನ್ನು ನನಗಾರು ಗತಿ ಕೇಳ ಬಯಸುವಿರೇನು ನನ್ನ ಕಥೆಯಾ ಬಹುದೂರ ಯಾವುದೋ ಪರ್ವತದ ಓರೆಯಲಿ , ಮರದ ಕಿರು ಹೊದರಿನಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿ ಬಂದೆ ಆ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಯರು ,  ನನ್ನಣ್ಣ ತಂಗಿಯರು   ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಯಲಿ ನಾನು ನಲಿಯುತಿದ್ದೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬನ ಬನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಡ ಗಿಡಗಿಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂಬೆ   ಕೊಂಬೆಗೂ ,  ಹೂವು ಸಾವಿರಾರು. ಬನದ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ   ರುಚಿಯ ಬರಿನೆನೆದರೇನುಂಟು ಮರಳಿ ದೊರೆಯಲು   ಬಹುದೇ ತೌರಿನವರು. (ಇದು ನನ್ನ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪದ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು.  ಒಬ್ಬ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಕವಿಯ ಕವಿತೆಯ  ಅನುವಾದ ಇರಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಅಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ನೆನಪು)

Sangeetha Bar ! 1976, Apr 3 It is about five in the morning. Father (I am not bothering with names) woke up with a start. Many years had passed since he had founded the orphanage. He had named it "X-Orphanage", a rather funny name. But looking back , everything about his life seemed funny now. Hearing some noise outside, Father decided to have a look.
